Q: What inspired you to start your business?
A: I was a high school math teacher for 14 years and wanted to follow my dream of owning my own business.
Q: What were some of the challenges you faced when you started?
A: I had never worked in the restaurant industry let alone the food truck industry, so I had to learn everything from scratch.
Q: What was the vision behind your business, and how has it evolved since you started?
A: At first I just wanted one food trailer that would keep me busy on the weekends. Now there are ten Snowy Churro trucks or trailers across 4 states.
Q: Did you always want to own a business? What did you want to do if not?
A: I have always had an entrepreneurial spirt. I just started teaching after college and got stuck in the teaching groove for 14 year..
Q: Could you share a milestone or achievement that you're particularly proud of?
A: In 2021, we started our first Snowy Churro in another state
Q: What’s something your customers don’t know about you or your business?
A: Personally: I have coached girls basketball for 20 years. About the business: It was originally called Peaks N' Sweets and we were only going to sell shaved ice and churros. I changed the name a week after I formed the business.
Q: What part of what you do gets you out of bed everyday?
A: I absolutely love talking to the customers! I love being a part of people's events and making their experience perfect and one to always remember!
Q: In what ways does your business strive to make a positive impact on your community or industry?
A: We are extremely active in our community, we love giving back to schools and charities we serve.
Q: What future goals or projects are you most excited about for your business?
A: I am excited to work towards switching all of our current trucks, and any new trucks, over to zero emission - Joule Case battery systems!
Q: How do you navigate setbacks or failures, and what lessons have they taught you?
A: To be successful in anything you do you really have to not be afraid to fail. I have failed and made a bunch of mistakes along my path of growth, but you just have to make sure you FAIL FORWARD! I have learned that the harder I work, and the more humble I am, the better my business does... crazy how that works :)
Q: Is there someone in your industry who inspires you?
A: I love the food truck industry, I am inspired by every owner I meet. They all have a unique and individual story that I can learn from!
Q: What’s some advice you would give to new businesses owners?
A: You really do get out of a business what you put into it. If you treat your business like a part-time side hustle, you probably won't get the results you are looking for. Love what you do, and whatever you do.. be the best at it :)
